Shedra’s formal career path began after she received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Texas Southern University in 1996. Her first position in the homeless arena was in Houston Texas, where she served as a Case Manager II at the Star of Hope Transitional Living Center.
Motivated and inspired to do more, Shedra moved to St. Louis to attend Washington University where she received a Masters in Social Work with a Management Specialization.
In the last decade Shedra has worked with at-risk populations with varying degrees of mental, emotional, and social capabilities, to provide counseling, coaching, preventative, and maintenance strategies to promote self-worth and self-sufficiency.
Shedra has had the opportunity to work with agencies such as Vision for Children at Risk, Clayton County Community Service Board, IMS Human Services, and Partnership for Community Action providing program management and facilitation, data monitoring, and collaborative network building.
Shedra was named Programs Director of the Gateway Center in 2007, where she gives supervision to a multiple program initiatives geared towards male clients that provide direction for mental/physical health, the displaced employed, persons in school/training, veterans, and individuals with addiction issues.
Shedra relentlessly seeks to put an end to social and emotional unrest. She was honored with the Gatekeeper Award in 2008 for outstanding performance.
