COVID-19 COMMUNITY RESOURCES
Similar to many healthcare workers our team can’t stay home. Gateway Center has over 400 residents in our on-site residential programs. Housing stability is key to ensuring that we can level off the spread of COVID-19. Those we serve are depending on our staff to help educate them on safety practices to reduce the spread of virus, provide updates on testing and accessing healthcare, provide for their basic needs such as food and housing, and to provide the support and coaching needed to achieve their goals of becoming stably housed. GWC has implemented the use of safety practices and equipment to support our team and keep them safe while serving.
Gateway Center has designed this page to serve as information hub for our guests and our partners regarding COVID-19. During this time of crisis, it is critical that everyone can easily identify resources and information that may be helpful as we are learning more about COVID-19 daily.
The Basics:
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a new virus.
The disease causes respiratory illness (like the flu) with symptoms such as a cough, fever, and in more severe cases, difficulty breathing. You can protect yourself by washing your hands frequently, avoiding touching your face, and avoiding close contact (1 meter or 3 feet) with people who are unwell.
How it Spreads:
Coronavirus disease spreads primarily through contact with an infected person when they cough or sneeze. It also spreads when a person touches a surface or object that has the virus on it, then touches their eyes, nose, or mouth.
