Faces of Homelessness Speakers’ Bureau
The Faces of Homelessness Speakers’ Bureau provides a forum for currently and formerly homeless men and women to educate the Atlanta community by sharing their stories. The program’s number one goal is to break down stereotypes and foster a greater awareness of the socioeconomic conditions that contribute to and exacerbate poverty and homelessness in the United States. Through hands-on education we strive to inspire community involvement in the fight to end homelessness on the local, state and national levels.
“When you stand and share your story in an empowering way, your story will heal you and your story will heal somebody else.
The Speakers’ Bureau also provides a platform for those experiencing homelessness to share their story and experiences in an empowering way. They are given the opportunity to give back and participate in our work of changing lives & ending homelessness- while learning better public speaking and writing skills at the same time.
The Speakers’ Bureau interns work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to assign speaking engagements on a per-case basis.
